Provenance: Israel.
The Meghillà contains the text of the biblical book of Esther that is read on the feast of Purìm and is traditionally given to brides.
Anonymous Israeli donor.
The biblical book of Esther is traditionally associated with the Jewish feast of Purim, which falls at the end of winter and which in many respects may recall the Christian carnival. Given the importance of the protagonist, who gives her name to the work, a manuscript scroll of Esther is offered as a gift to the brides, who have the task of reading it at home for the feast of Purim.
