YAD

Yad (hand). The hand-shaped pointer allows the reader to follow the line of the Biblical scroll during the synagogue reading, avoiding the physical contact with the sacred text. Discover the items donated to the Jewish Museum Lecce:

On the left: handheld pointer for liturgical use, with Menorah and Magen Daviddecorations, Northern Africa, 20th century, silver. Donated by Paola and Claudio Fano, in memory of Giorgio Fano (Rome 1907 – Fosse Ardeatine massacre 1944).

On the right: handheld pointer for liturgical use, Russia, second half of the 19th century, silver stamp “84”. Donated by Paola and Claudio Fano, in memory of Giorgio Fano (Rome 1907 – Fosse Ardeatine massacre 1944).
